Folding Screen of "Ladies at Work & Leisure" in Carved Stone

A decorative mid-height five-panel folding screen featuring beautifully detailed scenes of ladies at work and leisure. The figures are formed from carved, coloured pieces (possibly soapstone) and individually pieced against the dark wooden ground.

The central scene shows a group of women gathered around a table within a traditional interior, surrounded by a moon-gate window, vase, lantern and garden details. Floral and figurative motifs continue onto the adjoining panels, while the reverse reveals a different landscape scene of mountains, trees, houses and waterways incised onto the wooden panels.

A piece with plenty to discover from both sides.
